Natural gas prices will go up by 6.67% to BGN 594.37 per 1000 cu m, VAT excluded,as of October, according to an announcement of Bulgaria's State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).

The final decision for gas rates in Q4 2011 was taken at a Tuesday closed session of the watchdog, following a discussion with state-owned gas supplier Bulgargaz.

Bulgargaz's initial proposal was for a 13.86% gas price hike in Q4 2011, which the DKEVR working group countered with a suggestion for a 8.6% increase.
