One of the hundreds of Russian tourists who waited for 3 days to be returned home after a holiday in Bulgaria has complained of the adequacy of food given her and her fellow passengers during their wait at Burgas Airport.

"We were given just a croissant and some water per day. People suffering from diabetes had to share their last medicines," the tourist has told RIA Novosti.

She complained that food and drinks at the airport were extremely expensive and there, which turned the wait an especially unpleasant experience.

"We had a lot of positive emotions during our stay in Bulgaria. But after a 30-hour wait at the airport, things did not look so good anymore," said the frustrated holidaymaker.

Some 700 Russians, 200 Finns and dozens of persons from Lithuania waited for days to get home after their flights were canceled due to an alleged EUR 3.5 M debt to carrier Bulgaria Air from operator Alma Tours.

The Finns and Lithuanians finally made it home Monday and early Tuesday, but more than a hundred Russians have yet to return to their country from the Bulgarian Black Sea.

During the wait, the majority of the tourists were able to be housed in hotels in Burgas or Sunny Beach, or returned to apartments owned by them.

The stranded tourists crisis developed Saturday and provoked the reaction of senior Bulgarian and Russian government officials to broker a deal between the two companies, to little effect. A Bulgarian government plane was sent to deliver the most needy Russians to Moscow.

Due to the scandal, Alma Tours has already been banned from operating in Finland. Bulgaria's Prosecutor's Office has launched a probe against both Alma Tour and national carrier Bulgaria Air.
