The idea that Bulgaria's President Georgi Parvanov may once again head the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), from which he started his political career, is impossible, according to the party's current leader Sergey Stanishev.

On Thursday, it was reported that Parvanov may return to the leftist party and even become its leader once again once he finishes his second and last term in office in January 2012.

"Every former President has enough authority to engage in political activities. However, I cannot picture anyone returning to a role one has left," Stanishev, who is a former PM (2005-2009) has said.

Stanishev, however, said there would be nothing wrong if Parvanov decides to return to his party as a regular member.

"Every party should make good use of people with such experience, they are always influential," he pointed out.

Parvanov has stated on previous occasions his intention to remain at the forefront of Bulgarian politics after January 2012, when his second and last term in office expires.

Many have suspected that the movement he initiated at the end of 2011, Alternative for Bulgarian Renneisance (ABV, or the first three letters of the Slavic alphabet), would sooner or later transform into a political party. He has, however, officially denied that option.
