Pre-trial proceedings for an offense against intellectual property have been opened against a 31-year-old citizen of the southern Bulgarian city of Plovdiv.

The man set up his own torrent tracker system on his home computer, according to an announcement of the Plovdiv District Directorate of the Ministry of Interior.

He used the platform to provide unlimited access to copyrighted products without the legally required consent of the owners of the copyrights.

The torrent tracker was operational in the period June 2008 - May 2011.

Police officers have seized two computers and a laptop from the apartment of the offender.

The investigation into the intellectual property crime continues.
