Lazar Gruev, Chair of the Supreme Court of Cassation (VKS), has met with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, according to an official announcement published on VKS's website.
Gruev and Putin discussed Tuesday judicial reform in the two countries and the relationship between the branches of government.
The VKS Chair is on an official visit to Moscow at the invitation of Vyacheslav Lebedev, Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation.
The agenda of Gruev's visit has so far included meetings with Russia's chief prosecutor, Yuri Chaika, and Alexander Gusev, General Director of the Supreme Court's Judicial Department,as well as meetings at the Russian Justice Ministry and the Moscow District Court.
The visit of the Bulgarian delegation is comes in implementation of the Agreement for Bilateral Cooperation between the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation and the Bulgarian Supreme Court of Cassation.
Gruev's visist coincides with the release of a scathing report of the European Commission under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism (CVM) on Bulgaria's attempts at judicial reform.
