European Ombudsman to Talk Human Rights in Bulgaria

Human right issues are said to be high on the agenda for European ombudsman Nikiforos Diamandouros who will be on an official visit to Bulgaria at the invitation of his Bulgarian counterpart Konstantin Penchev.

During his visit, the European ombudsman will confer with Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov, Parliamentary Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva and PM Boyko Borissov.

Diamandouros will also meet with MPs from the Human Rights Commission at the Bulgarian Parliament, judges from the Constitutional Court and representatives from the Bulgarian office of the European Commission.

The European ombudsman's visit to the Balkan country will take place form Monday, July 18, to Wednesday, July 20.
