Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov released the president of the national Agrarian Academy, Prof. Svetla Bachvarova, from her duties Tuesday over suspicions of mismanagement.
A National Audit Office study of the Academy allegedly found a number of illegularities and fraudulent practices in the management of the educational institution.
Bachvarova is temporarily replaced by Bulgarian Vice-Minister of Agriculture Georgi Kostov, who will have to organize elections for a regular president.
At the same time, representatives of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party have claimed that the intention lying behind PM Borisov's and Agriculture Minister Miroslav Naydenov's actions is a plan to take over the Academy's assets.
