There will be no increase in the minimum wage and retirement pensions in Bulgiaria until presidential and municipal elections October or November, announced Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov.
Borisov made the last in a series of chaotic announcements of his cabinet regarding an imminent increase in wages and pensions Monday morning in an interview for bTV.
Earlier, as suggested by him and some cabinet ministers, it was expected that the raise be enforced starting July 1, which was then denounced.
"This won't happen before elections, that would be a populist action, so let's not speculates," said the Bulgarian PM.
"In order to get that raise, we must have more state revenue, thus the economy must be in a better shape," added Borisov.
He nevertheless confirmed he intends to move the minimum wage from BGN 240 to BGN 270 later in the fall.
In the meanwhile, the Borisov cabinet will raise only widows' and widowers' pensions.
