Thirty thousand residents of the Bulgarian capital Sofia participated Sunday in the Live Actively campaign organized by the Sofia Municipality in order to make walking and cycling more popular as means of transportation in the city.

The walking procession started in the morning at the National Palace of Culture in downtown Sofia, and was led to the South Park by a number of famous Bulgarian sportsmen and sportswomen.

Among the artists who took to the stage in the South Park were Irina Florin, Busto, Christo, GALIA, Goodslav, Skiller.

The initiative aims to promote walking and physical activity in general as some of the means to counteract the negative impact of urban lifestyle on human health. It has been annually organized by Nestle Bulgaria, which claims that the event enjoys higher interest every year.

The event continued well into the late afternoon with a number of performances and games in South Park.

Folk dances, fitness training, martial arts demonstration, lots of games and surprises for the march participants wrapped up the Sunday event.
