Architects Martin Hristov and Galina Baleva, who have crafted the design, revealed that a novel central bus station in Varna is scheduled to be inaugurated in late May
A waste recycling plant, an investment worth about BGN 50 M, was formally inaugurated at the Bulgarian Black Sea city of Varna.
The recycling factory of Ecoinvest Assets, a consortium, is located in the village of Ezerovo, 10 km east of Varna, and was opened Saturday by Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
It has a built-up area of 16 000 square meters, employs 40 people, and is supposed to function for at least 25 years. It can process 140 000 tons of waste annually.
The Ecoinvest Assets plant near Varna is the first of its type in Bulgaria; it intends to process the household waste of Varna and several adjacent municipalities. The waste will be separated automatically and by hand according to its type, and will be recycled. Within a few months, the factory will add an anaerobic installation for treating organic waste.
The biogas emitted during the processing of organic waste in anaerobic environment – about 95 cubic meters of methane per ton of waste within a three-week period – will be used to electricity production to sustain the local facility.
The factory was built in just 3 months by Recycling Bulgaria, a Bulgarian company, in partnership with Germany company Eggersmann Anlagenbau.
In a media statement, Recycling Bulgaria said it is in talks with other Bulgarian municipalities for the construction of similar waste recycling factories. According to Bulgaria's National Waste Management Program, all municipalities with over 100 tons of waste annually are supposed to have similar waste processing plants.
