The presidential candidate of Bulgarian ruling party GERB for elections in the fall will most likely be announced September 4, stated Tuesday PM Boyko Borisov.
Borisov thus confirmed suspicions that his center-right party's runner will be announced comparatively late in the race.
Initially the Bulgarian PM had mentioned the summer months, but recently he was continually extending back his self-imposed deadline.
Speculations are still rife as to whether the PM himself might not opt to run, giving up his position as premier.
"GERB will most likely name its candidate for president on September 4," said Borisov Tuesday upon the opening of repaired roads in Pernik Region.
The Bulgarian PM also commented on the no-confidence vote tabled last week by opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party and Movement for Rights and Freedoms, dismissing it as a non-entity.
"I don't even want to know about this vote. Those are some impudent people - tabling it when they know they will not succeed, at a time there is so much to do in the country," quipped Borisov.
