Bulgaria is among the top tourist destinations for Romanian travelers, but the economic crisis has a negative influence on their vacation plans.
A survey, conducted in the beginning of June, has revealed that due to the crisis many Romanians will favor local tourist attractions, the Romanian news agency Agerpres informs, cited by the Bulgarian BTA.
49% of those polled have designated Romania as their favorite destination while 42% said they will vacation abroad. There number of those, who will stay in Romania for their vacation, is up 2%, compared to 2010, while the number of those interested in traveling abroad is down 6%.
From foreign destinations, Greece is ranked first with 22% of Romanians wishing to vacation there, followed by Spain (15%), Italy (14%), Bulgaria (9%), and France and Turkey (7% each).
Compared to last year, there is a decrease in interest in travel to France, Italy, Spain of Germany while the interest towards Greece and Bulgaria is on the rise, the poll shows.
