Bulgaria: 'Half-Cured' Bulgarians Good Target for Clinical Trials

A US company specializing in bio medicines has started a campaign in Bulgaria for finding subjects for extensive clinical trials, motivating its move with the bad state of the Bulgarian health care system.

"There is a good base in Bulgaria of non-cured or half-cured patients who take part in clinical trials to get a better treatment," said the Bulgarian representative of the unnamed American company, quoted by Darik Radio.

The representative said that in developed markets health care systems ensure a much better treatment for patients, making subjects for clinical trials more hard to find.

She added that Romania is a similarly good destination to Bulgaria, but  Bulgaria is now starting to take the lead.

According to the representative, at present 25 clinical trials are going on in Bulgaria and 15 in Romania.
