Bulgaria's Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, declared Sunday he had already found the person to run as GERB candidate in the upcoming presidential elections.
Borisov spoke in an interview for the TV channel Nova Televizia, saying the nomination of his ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, party is very strong and would receive large support.
The PM further stated that former Tsar and Prime Minister, Simeon Saxe-Coburg – also a former leader of the National Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NMSP), has made the greatest contribution to Bulgaria's EU membership, and was the most prepared politician to become President of the country.
"Presidents, chancellors – when they visit Bulgaria, they all ask me how the Tsar is doing," Borisov said, pointing out NMSP's participation in the Three-Way Coalition cabinet turned against Saxe-Coburg.
The PM firmly rejected any possibility GERB will back Bulgaria's former and first EU Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva, in her run for the Presidential office, and stated he would never forget what the latter had said about him, even though he had never done anything "bad to her."
On the subject of local elections, the Country Leader forecasted GERB would have mayors in 6 to 7 major Bulgarian cities.
Borisov reiterated his view his most significant success is the construction of highways in the country, vowing to finish both Hemus in the north and Maritsa in the south.
"I took over the country amidst the greatest global financial and economic crisis ever, and to top it all, the earthquake-triggered incident at the Japanese Nuclear Power Plant Fukushima happened," the PM stated.
Borisov further admitted not having any personal life anymore over being overrun by ambition to fix the country's problems, but promised to strive to get married by the next presidential elections so that Bulgaria can have a First Lady.
