Bulgaria’s state monopoly Bulgargaz has declared that natural gas prices in the country should be increased by 6.91% as of July 1, 2011, reaching BGN 568.92 for 1000 cubic meters without VAT.
The new Bulgargaz proposal is 0.2% lower than its initial forecast issued May 12, 2011.
The proposed natural gas prices are subject to the approval of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR).
DKEVR Chair Angel Semerdzhiev declared Friday that the approve hike of natural gas prices will most likely be below 7%.
He stated that the state regulator will take its final decision by taking into account two major factors – the international prices of oil and oil products, and the fluctuations in the exchange rate of the US dollars.
He did say, however, that if the natural gas prices go up by 7% in July, this will lead to 3-4% hike in heating prices in various Bulgarian cities.
DVEKR officials also said that the night electricity tariff will most likely go up slightly as of July 1.
