The Director of the Executive Agency for Fishery and Aquacultures (IARA) at the Bulgarian Agriculture Ministry, Yavor Nedev, has resigned, IARA informs Monday.

Nedev's decision comes one day after Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, fired the Head of the IARA unit in the Black Sea city of Varna.

According to the announcement, the Director had resigned over lack of trust in him on the part of higher-ups and personal reasons, but unconfirmed reports claim he had been fired as well.

Nedev took over IARA in February, 2010, after its previous Head, Yordan Staykov, was dismissed in 2009, on the grounds he was responsible for delays in the EU operational program "Fishery," with a budget of EUR 107 M. Under Nedev's leadership IARA launched the first contracts with EU financing.

This is the latest reshuffle in the rule of the country in the last two weeks – other dismissals include: Transport Minister, Aleksander Tsvetkov, the Deputy Energy Minister, Mariy Kosev, Deputy Minister of Social Policy and Labor, Krasimir Popov, the leadership of Sofia's Traffic Police, of the Patent Agency, the National Assessment and Accreditation Agency, and the Director of the National Social Security Institute (NOI), Hristina Mitreva.

The news about Nedev's departure came on the heels of reports 4 Greek poachers were busted Sunday evening by IARA officers and border police in Bulgarian waters, near the Black Sea town and resort of Primorsko, with 20 kilos of illegal catch of white sand mussels.
