Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov should swiftly make clear whether he'll run for president in the fall or not, according to vice-chair of the liberal Movement for Rights and Freedoms Lyutvi Mestan.
Speaking at a press conference on the Movement's involvement in the fall presidential elections, Mestan commented speculations that Borisov might run, as well as the latter's urging of party leaders to run themselves.
"PM Borisov's provocation is not a real challenge until he makes clear his own personal intentions," said Mestan.
He further recalled that he had already urged that Bulgarians need to know whether their PM intends to switch positions and to try to serve as the country's president.
Mestan informed that at present the Movement for Rights and Freedoms - Bulgaria's third most-popular party after Borisov's center-right GERB and the Bulgarian Socialist Party - will present its own presidential nominee or support another one.
"At the moment we are considering our best options. The most important thing is that the next Bulgarian president have a clear and commanding vision about the future of the country," said Mestan.
He further intimated that Movement for Rights and Freedoms' leader Ahmed Dogan is currently "painting the image of the next Bulgarian president" in his mind.
