Bulgaria's Vice President Angel Marin gave an overview of his ten years in office in an interview for bTV Sunday.
"I have felt no signals that Bulgarian politics needs that I remain part of it after the end of my office January 2012," stated General Marin when asked about his future plans.
He commented that albeit almost invisible, the institution of Vice President in Bulgaria is a necessary one, as it gives a robustness to the role of the President.
Marin further said that at no moment during his time as VP for President Georgi Parvanov during the latters two terms in office 2002-7 and 2007-12 he had the expectations that he will assume the duties of being the country's President.
"Anyone who is familiar with the procedure of impeachment is clear that the threats of impeachment against President Parvanov over the years were completely non-serious."
According to Bulgaria's Constitution, the President has the right to delegate some of his duties to his VP, something Parvanov did for Marin regarding the right to give amnesty.
Sunday Vice President Marin recalled he has given 510 amnesties this far.
"I have never had remorse regarding that. Everything related to amnesty has been a great responsibility for me and was thoroughly thought out."
General Marin further commented that he has generally good relations with the Bulgarian cabinets he has worked, noting some exceptions, such as the negative relations between the Presidecy and current Minister of Defense Anyu Angelov.
Overall, the outgoing Vice President summarized that the most grave problem of Bulgaria during the transition period has been the one of finding its adequate political leaders.
