The death of Al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama Bin Laden had not only made the top ten news of the century, but is now ahead of the news about the wedding of British Prince William and Kate Middleton.

The results come from the Texas-based Global Language Monitor, which employed its Narrative Tracker Technology in analyzing the data. Narrative Tracker first focused on the number of citations found the Internet, blogosphere, and social media sites. The second focused on the top 75 000 print and electronic media sites with the two analyses being normalized, according to the company's own statement.

In less than a week after US President, Barack Obama, announced that US special forces have killed Bin Laden in Pakistan, the news, spread by print, electronic and internet media outlets, became the top third headline since the beginning of the 21st century.

The British royal wedding is fifth, surpassing the sudden death of the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

The top ten news, from one to ten, in the Global Language Monitoring ranking, are: Rise of China; Election of Barack Obama for US President; Bin Laden Killing; Wikileaks; British Royal Wedding; Death of Michael Jackson; 9/11 Terrorist Attacks; March, 2011, Japanese Disasters; Northern Africa and Middle East 2011 Civil Unrest called Arab Spring, and the Global Economic Crisis
