The US has trust in Bulgaria and it shows it by being the number one investor in the country, American Ambassador to Sofia, James Warlick, reaffirms.
Warlick spoke Monday morning in an interview for the TV channel TV7, saying America strives to avoid applying double standards towards other countries.
The diplomat further declared he does not interfere in Bulgaria's internal affairs, as he has been often accused, but his comments aim at triggering a larger public debate on important issues such as the energy sector, and the fight against corruption.
"I think it is "healthy" to see all points of view," the Ambassador said.
Warlick declined answering directly if, at the time he oversaw the UN program "Petrol for Food," he had received information that circles close to the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, have drained money from the program's funds.
"This does not mean there is no such documentation," the diplomat explained.
The Ambassador reiterated his full support for the visa waiver program between the US and Bulgaria, but did not give a deadline for it, only recommending that all Bulgarian citizens now apply for 10-year visas.
