The average residential property prices in the Bulgarian capital Sofia have dropped by 9.4% in the first quarter of 2010 year on year, the Raiffeisen Real Estate index has shown.
In comparison with the last quarter of 2010, the prices have decreased by 5.2%
According to a recent research conducted by Sofia based real estate agency Bulgarian Properties, the price levels of residential property in Sofia stood on average at about ERU 830 per square meter in the first quarter of 2011, down from EUR 930 in the last three months of the previous year.
Sales of residential property in Sofia in the beginning of this year nearly doubled in comparison with the same period in 2010, a trend, which stands in strong contrast with the slump in sales volumes across the country, the same research shows.
The prices in Bulgaria's second largest city, Plovdiv, have decreased by 8.0% compared with the corresponding period of 2010, while the third largest city of Varna has seen a 7.0% drop. On a quarterly basis, the prices in Plovdiv have dropped by 6.7%, while those in Varna have increased by 1.9%.
