Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
Bulgarians should not allow a coalition between center-right ruling GERB party and their main opposition, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, warned co-leader of rightist Blue Coalition Martin Dimitrov.
Dimitrov was speaking Tuesday in the city of Ruse, in which he claimed that coalition to have already taken place.
"It is high time PM and GERB leader Boyko Borisov and socialist leader Sergey Stanishev answer two questions - how long are they going to govern Ruse together are they planning to rule together again after municipal elections in the fall?" said Dimitrov.
The rightist leader was refering to the fact that together GERB and the Socialist have a majority in the municipal council and are frequently been using it.
Even before coming to power after general elections in the summer of 2009, GERB has been hostile to the Bulgarian Socialist Party, whose leader Stanishev served as Bulgaria's PM preceding GERB's Borisov.
The two parties have maintained their hostile stance to the moment, with the socialists requesting snap elections at a major rally some 10 days ago.
The Blue Coalition - the Socialists' arch-rivals from the 1990s - on the other hand were initially highly supportive of Borisov's GERB cabinet.
End of 2010 however the Blues started expressly distancing themselves and voicing vociferous criticisms against the government and its policies, sometimes expressing concerns coinciding with those of the Socialists.
"The Blue Coalition will never coalesce in power with the Socialist Party - that's the difference between honest people and political demagogues," stated Dimitrov Tuesday in Ruse.
