The swap of the buildings of the Agriculture Ministry and the City Hall in the capital Sofia has been postponed, Bulgaria's Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naydenov, stated Friday.
Naydenov spoke in plenary hall during the regular parliamentary control session, answering a question coming from the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, saying the idea for now remains only as a good intention.
The Minister explained this was a good idea because one third of all Bulgarians live in Sofia and because the building was designed in 1916 to house the municipal administration.
"Sofia residents deserve to have the most beautiful building, but we must postpone the move over the need of significant funding for its realization," Naydenov pointed out.
The opposition countered that they have reasons to believe the building will remain the symbol of Bulgarian farming because the days of the cabinet of the ruling Citizens of European Development of Bulgaria , GERB, party are coming to an end.
Later, in the Parliament's hallway, Naydenov said the swap is to amount to over BGN 1 M due to the need for repairs and renovations, and the logistics cost.
