Bulgarians will remember me with the Trakiya, Struma and Hemus highways, and with the southern arc of the Sofia beltway, the country's PM Boyko Borisov has announced.

"If there is a highway, foreigners will be able to reach the cities of Sliven or Yambol. They will go there because labor is cheaper and lands are left unused," Borisov said Thursday in an interview for the Bulgarian TV7.

He pointed out that there are five highways that are being built at present. According to him, they will bring profit in the future and will make the nearby regions "oasis of the economics's development".

Borisov also stated that he will continue his policy of discipline and prices will not go down soon.

"As long as I am in power, there will be discipline. It is impossible for prices of products and services to decrease now that there is a global financial crisis, an earthquake and a tsunami. And foreigners do not want to invest in a pigsty," he said.

The prime minister also pointed out that Bulgarian is not considering taking a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

"There is no economic, financial or any other logic for us to take a loan and spend it on salaries. This generation and the previous one were mislead by previous party members. Whether they want to be mislead again, it is their job. Hungary took a loan for paying salaries and it went bankrupt. This will not happen as long as I am in power," he said.

Borisov claimed that for two years the prices of natural gas and electricity have not gone up, while pensions have increased. He also noted that Bulgaria is holding on in times of harsh conditions even for larger countries.

The prime minister also commented on the excise duties. He called "populists" the parties who demanded a decrease of the excise duty.

"With these measures, we aim at decreasing the price with BGN 0.15 – 0.20 and we all agreed that everybody should step back a little from their positions. If the measures start to work, there might be a decrease of prices of diesel and gasoline," Borisov said.

In his opinion, Bulgarias President Georgi Parvanov has the best tactics of not taking a position on fuel prices.

"The Bulgarians do not feel they are guilty, but they always blame someone else. I have never blamed the nation. Some of the people work and make money. I want to help the other people because it is easiest to spend collected money," he said.

The prime minister also commented on the constant critiques towards his party GERB's leadership.

"The more enemies you have, this means your work is getting better. If everybody likes us, this would mean that we are not working," Borisov said.
