The Bulgarian right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party demands a full reshuffle of the staff and the leadership of four State agencies, saying the latter's work is paralyzed either by dependencies or lack of capability.

The four are – the Commission for Competition Protection, the Commission for Consumers Protection, the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) and the State Commission for Communications Regulation.

DSB leader, Ivan Kostov, says the only solution for the situation he called "staflation" (combination of stagnation and inflation) is the State to begin protecting the market and the competition.

Kostov further accused Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, of having secret agreements with the monopolies in the country with the goal of receiving financing for the presidential and local elections campaign of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party.

"We have this stagflation now precisely over the compromising of the market economy and GERB's inactivity about the monopolization of the manufacturing and the trade. GERB turned into a rule serving the monopolies," the right-wing leader says.

Kostov points out staggering prices are not the sole serious consequence of this rule, but also include the disappearance of a large number of small and medium businesses and the unemployment, adding civil protests tarnish the right-wing image of GERB.

DSB further say it would not be wise to lower the Value Added Tax (VAT) and the excise duties mid-year, but point out the State watchdogs can probe the way prices are formed and lower them with administrative measures.
