"European", a ship with 11 Bulgarian sailors on board unlawfully detained nearly a year ago at the Egyptian Alexandria port, has been released late on Sunday, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has announced.

The Bulgarian Embassy in Cairo in cooperation with the Bulgarian operator company of the ship Varna Shipping and Trading SA have assisted for the vessel's release. Europeam, which sails under the flag of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, has now headed towards Bulgaria.

At the beginning of February, 10 Bulgarian sailors were blocked at the Alexandria port due to a port workers' strike.
