Electricity Price Hike Looms for SE Bulgaria
The price of electric power used by households in southeastern Bulgaria is very likely to go up by 5% beginning July 1, 2011.
The new price was requested by the Austrian-owned power utility EVN which provides electricity to these parts of the country.
If the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) approves the request, the electric bill of a household will go up by BGN 2 a month on average.
The price hike could end up being even higher in the summer for the EVN end consumers because the utility has not yet received price changes that would be asked by those producing and selling electric power.
The other two utilities – the German E.ON, and the Czech CEZ are expected to announce their price requests on Monday.
