The Bulgarian government's Airbus has successfully landed on Sofia's International Airport with only one Bulgarian, a woman, on board.
The others passengers are said to include 70 people from Croatia, 2 from South Korea and 10 from China. The respective Consular Offices have been informed and will make arrangements for further transportation from Sofia.
The plane was supposed to departure at 7:00 am local time (which is the same for Bulgaria and Libya), but was delayed over a suspicious package. It arrived in Sofia around 11:00 am.
Earlier Wednesday (4 am), another plane landed at the Sofia International Airport with 110 Bulgarians and 6 Romanians on board. They are mainly medical and construction workers.
However, many Bulgarians are still stranded in Libya. They need at least 3 days to reach Tripoli while Foreign Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, advises them not to take long trips over the unstable situation and escalating tensions. He says the authorities are looking to find ways to evacuate Bulgarians from eastern Libya by sea
