The leader of Bulgaria's National Labor Confederation "Podkrepa" has stated that there were no reforms during the ruling of the previous government, but only grand scandals for abuse of power.
The statement by the Podkrepa leader, Konstantin Trenchev, was made Tuesday at the 8th Congress of the confederation.
Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov, who attended the Congress, said that there was nothing better for ruling parties than to have a coalition partner, with which they can wash their hands.
Trenchev agreed and added that the ruling of the previous cabinet, the three-way coalition, was anything else, but a coalition government.
"The distribution of power in the ministries looked more like distribution of prey between predators," the Podkrepa leader said.
He also noted that the previous cabinet had not used the favorable period before the economic crisis to make reforms, but only as an opportunity for abuse of power.
"The elections in the summer of 2009 brought the final sentence for the three-way coalition. With the new government, the social dialogue that was suspended since 2008, was restored only 10 days after the cabinet began working," Trenchev said.
Borisov commented on the speculations that Trenchev might quit his position at Podkrepa, which he held for 22 years.
"I would like to ask the doctor to continue working for Bulgaria. I am a person who tolerates critiques, who suffers, and who is trying to make a difference. I also wish many things could improve. We are really trying and they will improve," Borisov said.
The mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, also asked Trenchev to reconsider his decision to step down from the leadership position at the confederation.
"Podkrepa needs its leader, and Bulgaria needs you," she said.
