The leader of the Bulgarian right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, Ivan Kostov' gave Monday an ultimatum to Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, regarding illegal practices in the use of special surveillance devices(SRS).

Kostov extended a Wednesday deadline to Borisov to answer how is the latter going to seek responsibility from Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, and the Director of the State Agency for National Security, Tsvetlin Yovchev, as the direct perpetrators of the SRS abuse.

The DSB leader statement comes on the heels of the conclusions of the Parliamentary Subcommittee for SRS control that there are a number of weaknesses and violations in the application of wiretaps in Bulgaria.

On Friday, Tsvetanov declared there were no reasons for him to submit his resignation over the Subcommittee's report.

Kostov gave high marks to the work of the Subcommittee, voicing hope it would help resolve the SRS issues. He stated he agrees with the idea of the Subcommittee to place the SRS use under the control of the Justice Ministry.

The official position of the right-wing Blue Coalition between DSB and the Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) is expected on Wednesday.

Kostov further blamed President, Geori Parvanov, for keeping silent on the issue despite the fact the President's two terms in office were under the shadow of such "malicious practices."
