Career diplomat Vangelis Vitalis will be New Zealand's new Ambassador to the EU, who will also be accredited to Bulgaria.

Vitalis will also represent New Zealand in Luxembourg and Romania.

His appointment was announced by New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully, as cited by the New Zealand Herald.

Vitalis will become New Zealand's Ambassador to the EU, Bulgaria, Romania, and Luxembourg in August 2011, replacing the current Ambassador Peter Kennedy, who is returning to Wellington.
