Kamen Kostadinov, the spokesperson of the Bulgarian ethnic Turkish party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), declared Thursday the party is strong and will survive.

According to Kostadinov the movement is not in isolation, internal or external, despite the decision of one of its top men, Kasim Dal to resign.

"Dal has a long career with DPS and the situation is unpleasant; such move triggers shocks," Kostadinov, who so far has been the only one from the party's leadership to comment on the events, says.

The DPS spokesperson, however, stressed the movement will find ways to deal with the situation, adding no one, not even Dal, has the "resources" to split it.

Kostadinov further pointed out leader Ahmed Dogan has good contacts outside Bulgaria, but failed to explain why last year, during his visit to Bulgaria, the Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, choose to meet with Dal instead with the DPS leader.

The spokesperson reiterated he was surprised by Dal's decision to leave and that the decision was triggered by the latter's leadership ambitions.

Kostadinov rejected Dal's opinion as formal and not sincere, but promised he would not be "tried" for his behavior.

Meanwhile, the Central Operational Bureau of DPS announced they will hold a hearing on Dal's resignation and will make a decision on it next Tuesday.

According to DPS code, a member of the Bureau can be released by the Party's Central Council, under Dogan's proposal.
