Three Bulgarians have been abducted in Sudan on Thursday, according to the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry.

The three Bulgarians work for an Aviation company providing humanitarian aid.

Earlier on Thursday, the Bulgarian National Radio informed that three foreigners, including one Bulgarian, have been abducted by a military formation in Darfur.

The incident has taken place at a landing strip at Um Shalaya, 60 km southeast of Geneina, the provincial capital of the West Darfur state.

The Bulgarian Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response EU Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva has been informed about the abduction by Mariya Nedelcheva, a Bulgarian MEP off the European People's Party, who heads the European Parliament delegation observing the crucial South Sudan independence vote in the African country.
