The Bulgarian embassy in Brazil is in a terrible condition, with no running water or electricity, the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has complained.
Together with the country's Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov, Borisov inspected the embassy's building in the capital Brazilia on Monday.
"It is a wonderful place, with a vast residency for the Ambassador, but it is now dilapidated because of the former State Security agents' burglary in the course of the last 20 years," Borisov stated.
He referred to the recent revelations almost half of the acting Bulgarian heads of diplomatic missions worked for the communist secret service (DS) and the fact that Nikolay Tsachev, former Ambassador in Brazil, is one of the former agents exposed.
In May 2010, Tsachev was fired from his position, allegedly due to the Foreign Ministry's internal investigation, which has revealed a number of violations.
The Bulgarian cabinet has already adopted a decision to ask the President to dismiss all ambassadors of the country who were revealed to have been part of communist State Security.
Borisov and Mladenov are in Brazil as a part of the Bulgarian delegation invited to attend President Dilma Rousseff's inauguration. Since Bulgaria's relations with Brazil are of high priority now, due to the fact that Rousseff is of Bulgarian origin, Borisov has promised that the embassy's building will be rapaired.
