Media in neighboring Macedonia give significant attention to the resignation of the Minister without Portfolio for Bulgarians Abroad, Bozhidar Dimitrov.

"Bozidar Dimitrov was tripped by lustration. Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, in a statement for the Bulgarian National Television, announced he signed Dimitrov's resignation, making the historian, known for its anti-Macedonian stand, the first victim of lustration" the Skopje daily Dnevnik writes.

The headline in "New Macedonia" is - "Loyalty to Premier and Friend Borisov."

The paper cites Dimitrov saying he had no regrets and does not feel a victim - "I sensed I was placed in a political situation requiring loyalty not only to the PM, but to the friend Borisov."

The daily also published an editorial titled "Anti-Macedonian by Profession."

"Cheers to Bulgarians for the lustration. The good news here is that a neighboring country began the processes for which Macedonia still lacks political will. Bulgaria's lustration history started with diaspora Minister, Bozhidar Dimitrov, who is a prominent historian, politician, author, and a prominent anti-Macedonian. His statements focus on actual political goals, using a populist method," the editorial reads.

"Utrinski Vestnik" further writes with his resignation Dimitrov had done at least three good things, one of which is improvement of relations between the two countries.

The TV channel Alfa commented that Communist agent Dimitrov is no longer Bulgaria's diaspora minister, after being swept by the lustration broom when Borisov became pressured by the opposition to part with Communist secret services collaborators.
