Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, is becoming more and more "evil" because things in the country are turning from bad to worse, President, Georgi Parvanov says.

"I have the feeling Borisov's aggression is growing with the same proportions of his rule crashing down. He is trying to make up by media attacks I find inexplicable," Parvanov states in an interview for the Bulgarian daily "24 Chassa" (24 Hours).

The comments came on the heels of Borisov's accusations things are looking worse and worse, but for the President only, not for the country or the cabinet of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party, led by the PM.

In the interview, the President further promises he will sign the decree for the official publishing in the State Gazette of the cabinet's 2011 budget because anything else would mean censuring the government and the will of the voters.

Despite that, Parvanov voices strong criticism of the budget over, what he says, is the lack of sound policies, of reform ideas, and over disadvantages for the business, the education and the research sectors in the country. These words largely follow the view of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), of which the Head of State is a former leader and of experts from his newly-established civic movement ABV (abbreviation from the first three letters of the Bulgarian alphabet, standing for Alternative for Bulgarian Renaissance).

Regarding Borisov's voiced suspicions, the President and the leader of the right-wing Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) party, Ivan Kostov, have united in attacking on his cabinet, Parvanov points out that the clash between himself and Kostov, actually, had been the "most significant conflict of the transition period."

"There were barricades between the two of us, even though we always tried to keep our disagreements within the frame of the law and the rules of democracy. The closeness between Borisov and Kostov is much greater and real; it had an economic backing in the last ten years; until very recently GERB and DSB were close allies," the President said.

Regarding reports on January 1, 2011, murky Bulgarian businessman and former employee of the State Agency for National Security (DANS), Aleksei Petrov, would announce he would run for president, Parvanov points out Petrov could be a GERB nominee over his former friendship and business partnership with Borisov.

In the interview, the Head of State further confirms the ABV initiative could back some "strong" nominations for mayors in the upcoming local elections in 2011, but does not answer the question about his own political ambitions, by saying "there is plenty of time until the next general elections. The future will tell."

The President is also critical towards the amendments to the Election Code, debated by the Parliament on second reading Monday, saying they are a demonstration of the attempt of the ruling GERB to secure their victory and a u-turn from their pre-election promises to introduce radical changes in the way elections are held in Bulgaria.
