At the time being Finnish energy company Fortum is only committed to 1% of the project company for Bulgarian Belene NPP, Fortum Executive Vice President Anne Brunila told Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency).
The contract for creating a Belene project company was sealed Tuesday evening by the Bulgarian National Electric Company (NEK), Russian Rosatom, Finnish Fortum, and French Altran Technologies.
Bulgarian media had published information that Fortum is considering the opportunity to up it share to 25%.
Speaking to this site, Fortum VP Brunila stated that the memorandum concluded in Sofia Tuesday evening is for a 1% participation in Belene, and for the time being Fortum is not considering upping it share.
The proposal for a larger participation from the Finnish company comes from the Bulgarian side, according to the Fortum senior executive.
Fortum is interested in participating in the project with its knowledge in nuclear technology and safety, said Brunila.
She underscored that the memorandum signed in Sofia is only the start of development on the Belene NPP project.
