The Bulgarian conservative "Order, Law and Justice" (RZS) party will call a referendum for the convening of a Great National Assembly to prepare a new Constitution. .

The statement was made Tuesday by the RZS leader, Yane Yanev. He pointed out that as many as 218 000 signatures have been collected in favor of a referendum for ending the current Parliament's term early only in Bulgaria's capital Sofia and its region.

"This is a no-confidence vote for PM Boyko Borisov's government," Yanev declared, referring to the referendum.

Even GERB voters have been in favor of the referendum, the RZS leader pointed out.

RZS plans to have the referendum by March 2011 to avoid the holding of presidential elections without a new Constitution.

Yanev's conservative party was at first an ally of Borisov's governing GERB after the last parliamentary elections in 2009, but subsequently withdrew its support for the government.
