Bulgarian Foreign Minister, Nikolay Mladenov, and Libya's PM Baghdadi al-Mahmudi have agreed on creating a program for recovering the economic relations between the two countries.

"The relations between the two countries and nations date back years ago and they have been very constructive before the painful story of the Bulgarian nurses," Mladenov said.

He was in Tripoli for his participation in the summit between the European Union and Africa, which is taking place Monday and Tuesday.

"The tough years are behind us and we should find the strength to look ahead to the mutually beneficial opportunities that our collaboration would create. Bulgarians have a good name in Libya because throughout the years they have helped for the development of the country," Mladenov said at his meeting with al-Mahmudi.

The Libyan PM agreed that the two countries have a lot of opportunities for cooperation, including in the fields of energy, farming, engineering and medicine, among others.
