No gross crimes such as abduction and racketeering are carried out in Bulgaria, stated Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior Kalin Georgiev, defending the work of minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

Speaking in an interview for Nova TV, Georgiev strongly praised the results of the interior minister's work in curbing organized crime, and stated that the Ministry of Interior has registered "no failures" whatsoever.

He moreover stated that Bulgarian media should "apologize" to minister Tsvetanov for fanning allegations regarding a possible abuse of power on the part of the minister to acquire real estate properties.

"People should realize that we are speaking about someone who is at the frontlines of the fight against organized crime and that he is willingly exposing himself to criminals," stated Georgiev.
