Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has thanked Bulgaria for the attention it has paid to its relations with Russia in the past few months.
Speaking briefly after his 20-minute tete-a-tete meeting with Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov in Sofia, Putin said that the joint energy projects – the South Stream gas transit pipeline, the Belene Nuclear Power Plant, and the Burgas-Alexandroupolis oil pipeline – have been discussed in detail in the recent months.
"I would like to thank you for the attention that you have attributed to the development of the Russian-Bulgarian relations. Precisely because of these efforts we managed to achieve progress on a number of key issues in the recent months, and to come closer to the signing of several crucial agreements," Putin stated.
He emphasized the "working character" of his visit to the Bulgarian capital Sofia.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov did say in turn that the most important aspects of the Bulgaria-Russia ties are in the energy sector.
Borisov pointed out that the records from Saturday's talks of the Bulgarian and Russian delegations will be made public shortly.
