The visa restrictions for Bulgarians traveling to Taiwan have been lifted Thursday, the press office of the European People's Party (EPP) in the European Parliament announced.
The move came just hours before the EP lifted the visa requirements for citizens of Taiwan for entering the European Union.
Bulgarian MEP, head of the Bulgarian EPP delegation, and reporter for Taiwan at the EP Foreign Affairs Committee, Andrey Kovachev, said the lifting of the visa regime opens new doors for partnership between Taiwan and the EU, including exchange of tourists, trade relations and collaboration in the education sector.
"Democracy, education and business in Taiwan are at the levels of Japan, South Korea, and other developed countries in the region," according to the Bulgarian MEP.
