Bulgaria has presented its report on human rights before 45 member states of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland.

Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov presented the country's annual report on the 12th session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group.

The Bulgarian government has received a high recognition for its efforts in fighting corruption, reforming the judicial system and establishing a program to decrease the number of children in orphanages, according to Bulgarian Foreign Ministry press release.

Minister Mladenov was asked questions by the member states' representatives, including on problematic topics such as the Roma minority integration, human trafficking and domestic violence.

"We put serious efforts into these difficult areas. Therefore we are convinced that the measures taken by us are going to produce results.", the Bulgarian Minister declared.

He agreed that more social campaigning is necessary in order to increase the Bulgarian society's attention on problematic topics, giving the newly started campaign to stop human trafficking in the country.
