The recently released from jail former undercover agent and controversial businessman, Aleksei Petrov, will become an official member of Bulgaria's conservative Order, Law and Justice party (RZS).

The news was announced by party leader, Yane Yanev, during a meeting of the RZS managing council, saying from supporter Petrov will soon turn into a full-pledged member.

Yanev did not give an exact deadline for this to happen and explained the possibility of the ex agent of the State Agency for National Security, (DANS), to run in the 2011 local and presidential elections on the RZS ballot has not yet been discussed.

The party has accepted Petrov's condition to enter politics - to have a team-based cabinet as an alternative to the current government of the center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party and Yanev had begun negotiations with experts hoping to attract people from GERB, from the nationalist, far-right Ataka and from the right-wing Blue Coalition.

The only stated disagreement between Yanev and Petrov is the conservative leader's wish to have a Presidential Republic of the French type while the former "Octopus" favors a strong parliamentary republic.

Yanev reiterated rumors he is a homosexual were not true, and defined them as provocation and slander.

Aleksei Petrov was arrested on a number of charges in February in a police operation codenamed Octopus and spent almost nine months behind bars before being released on house arrest on October 12.
