Bulgarian Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov expressed his disaffection at Tuesday's court decision to move controversial suspect Aleksei Petrov to house arrest from the detainee room.
This is the most recent of a series of critical comments on the part of Tsvetanov regarding the workings of Bulgaria's judicial system.
The interior minister qualified Tuesday's decision of the Sofia Court of Appeals as "disappointing" and "worrisome."
He voiced his firm conviction that the evidence gathered by the police and prosecution against Petrov is strong enough.
Tsvetanov further expressed worries that after the more lax measure for detainment against the suspect, key witnesses on the trial might be "pressured" to modify or denounce the evidence they gave.
