The Bulgarian Medical Association passed a resolution Tuesday it is still ready to strike should the government fail to take up resolute actions to restore failing finances of the health care system.
Nevertheless, doctors appear to have softened their stance by saying they are "prepared" to strike, instead of keeping October 15 as the date of their protest.
The Medical Association decided that its president should directly negotiate the terms of a settlement of the crisis with PM Boyko Borisov and threatened to strike if the cabinet fails to duly act on the agreement.
At the Medical Association's sitting Tuesday, PM Borisov announced that the government will modify payments to the social welfare system intended to boost the finances of the healthcare fund.
