Captain of Bulgaria and English Premiership team Aston Villa Stiliyan Petrov vowed to stay in the national team until the end of the Euro 2012 qualfiers.

This statement follows earlier information that he is considering quitting the national team.

Bulgaria suffered two crushing defeats at the onset of the Euro 2012 qualifiers: 4:0 against England in London and 0:1 against Montenegro at home.

It is now set to guest to the team of Wales next Friday, which will be Bulgaria's first match after new manager Lothar Matthaeus took over.

"I will be playing until the end of the qualifying campaign," said Petrov Sunday.

"If we qualify, I will play at the European Championship; if we don't - I'll quit. It is true that the Bulgarian national team is going through hard times, but I will not run just away from my responsibility," stated the Aston Villa Bulgarian midfielder.
