Bulgaria's right-wing Union of Democratic Forces Party (UDF) demanded Tuesday the resignation of Health Minister, Anna-Maria Borisova.

The information was reported by UDF leader, Martin Dimitrov, who asked Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, to appoint a new team at the Health Ministry, one that was "not selected at the country's crossroads." (Dimitrov was referring to Borisov's statements he found the Health Minister at a road junction in central Bulgaria, spoke to her for a while and decided to offer her the post.)

UDF further demand replacement of the Director of the Health Insurance Fund (NZOK), Neli Nesheva and of Deputy Finance Minister, Vladislav Goranov, who is also a member of the NZOK Monitoring Board.

According to Dimitrov, Anna-Maria Borisova lacks knowledge of the country's health care system and is incapable of making leadership decisions while Goranov works not for the Health, but for the Finance Ministry's good.

"The Health Ministry is now a subsidiary of the Finance one and the idea for hospital copay is cynical," Dimitrov said.

UDF inform they have submitted with the Parliament a Bill mandating funds from health insurance to be used only for health care, not for propping the country's finances as it is now.
