Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov has used the ongoing UN General Assembly meetings in NYC to sound out international support for Bulgarian candidates for jobs at international institutions.

The only candidate that has been mentioned is Tsveta Kamenova, who will be bidding to become a judge at the International Court of Justice of the UN in the Hague.

According to reports in the Bulgarian media, on Thursday Mladenov managed to secure the voice of the Pacific island of Nauru for Kamenova's application.

It is unclear what the Pacific nation will receive in exchange.

Nauru is one of the four sovereign states together with Russia, Nicaragua, and Venezuela, which has recognized the independence of the breakaway Georgian republics Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
