Winter Tourism: 1.8 Million Visit Bulgaria
Bulgaria has witnessed a bustling winter tourism season, with a total of 1.8 million tourists gracing its picturesque landscapes from December 1 to March 25
Romanian President Traian Basescu will make a visit to Bulgaria on September 23, the first visit of a Romanian head of state in the country in the last seven years.
Basescu has been invited by the Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov. The two heads of state will continue the active political dialogue and will revise the bilateral relations in all spheres of partnership within the EU and NATO.
The Presidents will also discuss the opportunities for renewal of the trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as the interaction in the energy field.
The program of Basescu's visit includes also plenary discussions between the two official delegations.
The two state of heads will sign bilateral agreements. They will also open the Bulgarian-Romanian business forum.
Participants in the forum will be 25 Bulgarian and 26 Romanian companies, working in the spheres of environment, transport, infrastructure, construction, finance, agriculture, pharmacy, tourism and others.
The Chair of the Bulgarian Parliament, Tsetska Tsacheva, will host a work lunch in honor of the Romanian President.
According to data of the Foreign Ministry in the last 10 years bilateral trade has seen a constant growth of the overall volume of bilateral commercial exchanges and a positive balance of trade.
As of 2008, the total volume of bilateral commercial exchanges exceeds EUR 2 B.
As of November 2009 there were 1,124 companies owned by Bulgarian citizens in Romania. The overall volume of Romanian investments in Bulgaria was EUR 251.33 M in September 2009.
